ELT consultants – ROUND UP of 2018 and looking forward to 2019

ELT Consultants have been involved in education reform of teaching English globally since 2010 when the consultancy was formed. ELT Consultants have worked on the two education reform projects shared below since 2013. Mutual respect and trust is needed with partners, as well as consistency and continuity.
And before 2018 becomes a distant memory let’s reflect on our achievements and impact on the English Language Teaching world’s we have been fortunate enough to be invited to work in.
IATEFL, Brighton 9-10th April, 2018
A joint presentation with Mark Gregson of the British Council, Venezuela, of the longitudinal project carried out in Venezuela, from conception with needs analysis throughout the country to mentoring teachers as they develop their skills in a 2 year post-graduate qualification in language and methodology.
AfricaTESOL, Senegal 4-6th May, 2018
ELT-Consultants sponsored four speakers for the first PCE (pre-conference) event ever held. This was organized by IATEFL YLT Sig and GI Sig.
British Council, Venezuela 25th June to 13th July, 2018
Coralyn and Wendy continued their longitudinal project in Venezuela, traveling around the country to train teachers and trainers on the importance of mentoring and assessment. This was our 5th year.
British Embassy/FCO, Laos 8 to 19th October, 2018
A second visit to this project, the English syllabus was designed in 2017 and in 2018 Grade 3 classroom materials were developed ready for piloting in 2019.
British Council, Uzbekistan 5 to 16th November, 2018
Another longitudinal project, this was the 5th year. To date support has been given to develop Grade 1 to 6 classroom materials, and in 2018 a pre-service module of 20 workshops was developed by a team. A further module of 10 workshops is being developed for in-service teachers.
British Council/FCO, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire 16 to 21st December, 2018
Two new projects! One an ELT Consultants team developing a digital toolkit for English Clubs at tertiary level in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. This will be piloted in February/March 2019.
The second project another team of ELT Consultants advising the Ministry of Education on the implementation of teaching English at primary level.
With the benefit of Associates, whose work takes them around the world, this year we will be sharing blogs on our individual and team work in the following regions: Americas (Central and South), Asia, Europe, Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Sub-Saharan Africa and Wider Europe.
